Course Descriptions
6th Grade Theatre Arts (Full Year):
6th Grade Theatre Arts is designed for the sixth grade student who knows that they want to do theatre for their entire time at FMS. The course is designed to introduce the student to acting through exercises in body control, concentration and relaxation. The student will work on improvisation skills both individually and in groups. The primary objective is to develop the student’s creativity and ability for self-expression. Technical Theatre is introduced.
Theatre Arts I (Full Year):
Theatre Arts I is designed for any student who is interested in an introduction to acting and the theatre. The course is designed to introduce the student to acting through exercises in body control, concentration and relaxation. The student will work on improvisation skills both individually and in groups. The primary objective is to develop the student’s creativity and ability for self-expression. Technical Theatre is introduced.
Theatre Arts II (Full Year):
Sixth grade Theatre Arts or Theatre I is the prerequisite for Theatre Arts II. Theatre Arts II builds upon the skills learned in the previous Theatre Arts class. Students will continue to strengthen their acting skills in a variety of theatrical experiences including reading and writing plays, as well as memorized and improvisational performance. Technical theatre is involved.
Theatre Arts III (Full Year):
Teacher approval is required for students to take Theatre Arts III. Theatre Arts III builds upon the skills learned in Theatre Arts II. Students will continue to strengthen their acting skills in a variety of theatrical experiences including reading and writing plays, as well as memorized and improvisational performance. Higher order thinking skills will be emphasized. Technical theatre will be involved. Students need to be mature with the ability to work independently.

I think that everyone who is into theater at all should! At the beginning of the year I wasn`t so sure about doing theater but now I love it!!!!!!!!
Theatre III ppl take all!! We are da bomb!! Course, when ur the only one in ur class, yeah it kinda sux. Oh well, its still cool to be all…i dont know what…

Can’t even THINK about doing anything else.
My friends are still always bugging me, saying, “You should’ve done band.”
I say, “Not a chance. Wouldn’t give up theatre for a single thing! I live with no regrets! Love it Love it Love it!”
There’s nothing else I’d rather do.
Plus, for those of you who are considering whether or not you should continue taking theatre next year, HELLO????? Why do you even have to think?
It’s fabulous from the start and just keeps on getting better!
